Economic and Policy Analyst at JRC Seville, Spain

 

Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission is looking for an Economic and Policy Analyst. The position is part of the ‘Knowledge for Finance, Innovation and Growth’ Unit.

 

As part of this Unit, the newly established TEDAM (Territorial Data, Analysis and Modelling) team is looking for a motivated economist to contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of different EU policies.

 

The successful candidate will integrate a dynamic and multi-cultural team and will work as a policy analyst / economist. In particular, the candidate will conduct statistical and econometric analysis in relevant EU policy areas associated with innovation, regional disparities, sustainable economic growth, digital and green transition, structural change, among other topics. She/he will also collaborate on enriching/expanding the regional indicators included in the newly created Territorial Economic Data Viewer (TEDv).

 

The ideal candidate should have (at the time of applying):

  • Completed a PhD (doctoral diploma) or, alternatively, completed university studies of at least three years attested by a diploma plus five years of relevant professional experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting applied economic research, collecting and processing data;
  •  Knowledge and experience of policy monitoring and evaluation;
  • Expertise in at least one of these areas: economics of innovation, structural change, regional disparities, spatial econometrics, economic growth and labour market analysis;
  • Knowledge of statistical/econometric tools (i.e. STATA);
  • Positive and collaborative attitude;
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks;
  • A very good level of written and spoken English;
  •  Strong written and communication skills.

 

It will be considered as an asset:

  • Knowledge / experience on EU policy and EU institutions;
  • Track record of scientific publications;
  • Experience in working with large databases and/or producing indicators.
  • Experience in scientific / policy communication to specialised stakeholders and general audience.

 

Indicative contract’s duration:

36 months initial contract with possible renewals up to maximum 6 years.
