Bio del Prof. Giesen:
Ricardo Giesen is Director of the BRT+ Centre of Excellence (www.brt.cl) and Associate Professor at the Department of Transport Engineering and Logistics at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC). He received his PhD in Transportation Systems from the University of Maryland College Park in 2007, and before a M.S. in Transportation Engineering in 1998 and a B.S. in Civil and Industrial Engineering in 1995 from the PUC. He specializes in operations of transportation systems, public transit planning and operations, and logistics and distribution optimization.
He is co-founder and director of Routing (www.routinguc.com), Transit (www.transituc.com) and E-Trans (www.etrans.cl). He has served as consultant to several companies and government agencies in the areas of design and analysis of public transport systems, and logistics and distribution optimization. He is a member of INFORMS, Transportation Science and Logistics Society, TRB, and the Chilean Transportation Engineering Society.
