Latest Italian Section Conference

 

 

From Naples with the proposal of abstracts for a Invited Session on European – Mediterranean regional and urban problems.

 

 

The participants to the conference in Naples on the 15th April, came from various universities and regional policy institutions in Arab countries as well as International organizations.
Andre Torre from the French speaking Association was also present and the Spanish and Portuguese Associations of Regional Science expressed their support to the initiative and willingness to collaborate in the future. Various Italian universities, research centers and public Institutions were present.

The conference has been useful for highlighting the positive characteristics of  the the Arab countries, such as the high rate of increase of GDP and of population and the increasing sectoral diversification of the economy, from extraction of natural resources.

Our sincere condolences to family, friends & colleagues of Prof. Atalik

 

 

Prof. Dr. Gunduz Atalik, the President of Turkish Section of Regional Science passed away on the 1st of May 2013. Prof. Atalik was the founder of the Turkish Section of Regional Science, he had a great contribution to the development of the Regional Science in Turkey. The ERSA Congress that he organized in 1990 has still been a good memory in the minds of our colleagues in regional science society.
