1st RSAI Summer Course | 13 – 21 June 2011 – Azores, Portugal

The Regional Science Association International organizes its 1st Summer Course, with the theme Regional and Urban Economics, Theory, Analysis and Operational Models that will be held between June 13th until June 21th 2011 in Terceira Island, Azores, Portugal.

 

The RSAI Summer Course offers an integrated structure of training, active participation, and discussion for PhD students and young researchers in regional science.

 

The summer course will be focused on the issue Regional and Urban Economics, Theory, Analysis and Operational Models. In a format of combined lectures and hands on training provided by top-level experts that will lectures the following themes of regional science: Urban and regional economics; Spatial econometrics and Operational models of regional economies.

Application process

 

Master student, doctoral, PhD students and other applicants who want to participate in the summer course should submit the Application Form (download file) by email to rsai@apdr.pt.

This Application Form must be accompanied by:

  • Name and address of two researchers who are willing to write a letter of recommendation (may include the doctoral / PhD supervisor)
  • Scientific CV. 
 
Deadlines
 
  • Application Form (Abstract submission): 11th March
  • Notification of accepted abstracts: until 17th March 
  • Paper submission: 17th April
  • Notification of accepted papers: until 22th April

 

Registration

 

The registration fee is 200 euro (The number of participants is limited to 25).

 

It includes: attending all lectures, study visit, coffee/tea, lunches, official dinner, accommodation in double room (Terceira Mar Hotel).

Terceira Island

Referred to as the "Ilha Lilas" (the "lilac" or "violet" island), Terceira  is an island in the Azores archipelago, in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the larger islands of the archipelago, with a population of 56,000 inhabitants in an area of approximately 396.75 km?. It is the location of the historical capital of the archipelago, the Azores’ oldest city and UNESCO Heritage Site (Angra do Heroismo), the seat of the judicial system (Supreme Court), main base of the Azores Air Zone Command (Commando da Zona Aerea dos Acores) Base Aerea n? 4 and to a United States Air Force detachment.
