A new regular issue (number 27) of the journal of the Spanish Regional Science Association (AECR) Investigaciones Regionales is already available both on line (www.investigacionesregionales.com) and printable version. This issue corresponding to Autumn 2013 is an international compilation which contains 6 scientific-academic papers, one state of the art and 2 book reviews.
Seijás & Iglesias, using DEA techniques and Malmquist indices and boostrapping estimations, analyze changes in productivity and their relation with variations in citizens’ perceived satisfaction in the field of hospital care and specialized care in the Spanish regional health services for the period 1999-2004. Capello, Figueras, Freille & Moncarz analyse regional convergence between Argentine provinces in well-being indicators for the period 1970-2001 examining the role of regional public policy in reducing the development gap between the provinces. Escriva & Murgui, using a dynamic panel data model (system-GMM), analyse the impact of sectorial and territorial factors on the dynamics of employment in regional industries in Spain over the period 1980-2006. Dueñas, Iglesias & Llorente use Karmel and MacLachlan indices and segregation curves using Gini indices in order to analyze the evolution of gender segregation in Spanish labour market between 1996 and 2010, with particular emphasis on the different trends Spanish regions. Gonzalez, Rubiera & érez propose a methodology based on the description and analysis of information contained in the referenced digital cartography- through the classification and interpretation of the píxels of the ortho-photos – and identify how has been the urban expansion in the region of Asturias between 1996 and 2006. Finally, Buendía & Sánchez present new evidence about the behaviour of provincial unemployment rates in Spain. They use both descriptive and spatial filtering techniques in a panel estimation framework to check the existence of spatial patterns. Within the section 'Panorama & Debates' Maroto presents a state of the art reviewing both theoretical and empirical works on the relationships between productivity and service industries, specially focusing in the regional and territorial fields.
This issue conclude with a review by Fernandez on the book 'Service industries and regions: growth, location and regional effects' and other one by Santos on the book 'Defining the Spatial Scale in Modern Regional Analysis: New Challenges from Data at Local Level'

Un nuevo número (número 27) de la revista de la AECR Investigaciones Regionales está ya disponible tanto en papel como on line (www.investigacionesregionales.com) Este número correspondiente a Otoño de 2013 es una compilación que contiene 6 artículos de investigación, un panorama para debate y 2 reseñas de libros.
Seijás e Iglesias, usando técnicas no paramétricas (DEA e índices de Malmquist) y estimación Boostrap, analizan la evolución de la productividad y su relación con la satisfacción percibida por los ciudadanos en el campo de los servicios sanitarios regionales en España entre 1999 y 2004. Capello, Figueras, Freille y Moncarz analizan la convergencia regional entre las provincias argentinas en términos de bienestar durante el período 1970-2001 examinando el papel de las políticas regionales en la reducción de las diferencias interprovinciales. Escrivá y Murgui, aplicando técnicas de estimación para un panel dinámico (system-GMM), analizan el impacto de los factores sectoriales y territoriales en la dinámica del empleo de las industrias regionales de la economía española durante el período 1980-2006. Dueñas, Iglesias y Llorente usan índices de Karmel y MacLachlan, así como curvas de segregación con índices de Gini, para analizar la evolución de la segregación de género en el mercado laboral español entre 1996 y 2010 con especial atención a las diferencias regionales. González, Rubiera y Pérez analizan la huella urbanística del boom inmobiliario en el Principado de Asturias mediante GIS (a través de la interpretación de los pixeles de las orto-fotos) para el período 1996-2006. Finalmente, Buendía y Sánchez de la Vega presentan nueva evidencia acerca del comportamiento de las tasas de paro provinciales en España. Los autores utilizan tanto técnicas descriptivas como otras de filtrado espacial en un marco de panel para comprobar la existencia de patrones espaciales.
En la sección Panorama y Debates, Maroto resume la literatura, tanto teórica como empírica, relacionada con la productividad en el sector servicios, con un especial interés en sus aplicaciones a los campos regionales y territoriales en auge en los últimos años.
El número concluye con dos reseñas de libros. La primera, de Fernandez, sobre la obra 'Service industries and regions: growth, location and regional effects'; y la segunda, de Santos, sobre el libro 'Defining the Spatial Scale in Modern Regional Analysis: New Challenges from Data at Local Level'
