Dear All,
We invite you all to tender for the above ERSA events.
For many years ERSA has been growing in structure and size with its annual events across Europe and we wish to continue with this for many years, to come.
The information below highlights some of the areas that are required to support such events:

ERSA Congress Events
The venue for the ERSA Congress must be within a University complex (for example a School of Engineers) with a combination of meeting rooms and supporting facilities.
In previous congresses in Jönköping, Barcelona, Bratislava and Palermo, we have had between 600-1000 participants attending.
The Venue:
· A Plenary theatre holding at least 300 – 700 persons
· Workshop rooms (20 – 30), several holding 30 persons, others 10-25 persons
· Catering facilities (lunch) adjacent or within easy walking distance from the workshop rooms
· Exhibition/Registration area which can be used for coffee breaks, exhibitors, meeting points, general information etc
Structure of the Sessions:
The delegates propose their "Working Papers" in the General Themes or in the Special Sessions at the Congress.
There are Awards and Prizes given out under various categories, for example the EPAINOS Prize and the EIB-ERSA Prize.
Length of the Congress:
Over 4 days – towards the end of August.

ERSA Summer School Events
The goal of the Summer Schools is to provide PhD-students and young researchers with;
- Advanced training in various fields related to Regional Science
- An opportunity to present and discuss their research,
- Skills and knowledge to advance their careers as researchers,
- A chance to learn and create their own long term network on an international level.
Over the years, the ERSA Summer Schools have been held in various locations around Europe, these being, BTH, Karlskrona (Sweden), Umea (Sweden), Luxembourg, Volos (Greece), Pecs (Hungary), Bratislava (Slovakia), Groningen (The Netherlands) and other places…
Lecturers:
Leading experts in their respective fields holds the events.
- International approach: gather keynote speakers from different countries (to secure their participation make contact well in advance)
- National approach: give opportunities to national scientists
Length of the Summer School:
The event should be held in July for at least 7-10 days
Structure of the week:
The Summer School can be divided as follows:
- Workshops
- Working groups
- Social programmes
Including training sessions, lectures and evening sessions.
Other facilities such as the accommodation, lunches, dinners, evening events and estimated budgets, can be requested from the ERSA Office (info@ersa.org).

ERSA Workshop / Seminar Events:
The goal of the Workshops/Seminars is to promote information on current theoretical methods or innovations, thus providing information and reflections on current policy developments.
This initiative started in 2012 by ERSA for its' members. By allowing the members / sections of ERSA to promote specific topics, devoted to both research and policy orientations.
In 2012-2013 we held Workshops/Seminars across Europe:
* Mapping Smart Specialization – AgroParisTech – Paris, France
* Winter Seminar at University of Economics in Bratislava
* Hochschule Niederrhein University in Germany
* Faculty of Economics and Business – University of Barcelona
Workshops/Seminars are small formats, from one to three days, involving well-known lecturers in various fields of regional science, as well as experienced policy-makers.

Additional Information
*Local Organization Committee (LOC)
The LOC for these events should have sufficient back-up within the host institution, including the full support of the university and help from a small support team academic/administrative colleagues in the preparation of these event. The Section of ERSA should be also involved in supporting these tenders.
*Language
All the events to be in English.
Procedure for Tenders to these events:
Proposals should be sent to the Executive Director of ERSA, before the 1st of July 2014.

Tenders received will be processed and submitted to the EOC and ERSAC meetings in August 2014. Where upon the decisions will be made relating to the appropriate tenders in question.
