Job opportunity – Economic Analyst at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (Seville site) – Oferta de empleo

Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission is looking for a Contractual Agent.  The position is part of the ‘Knowledge for Finance, Innovation and Growth’ Unit.

 

As part of this Unit, the newly established TEDAM (Territorial Data, Analysis and Modelling) team is looking for a researcher to contribute to the European Commission’s analysis, monitoring and impact assessments of different EU policies at the territorial level (NUTS2 regions).

 

The successful candidate will work as an applied economist – in close cooperation with the other colleagues in the team. In particular, the candidate will work on updating / extending the regional data system on EU policies currently used as a stand-alone product, she/he will conduct statistical and econometric analyses and support the impact assessments conducted by means of the Rhomolo CGE model. Examples of areas of interest are territorial indicators currently included in ESTAT regional statistics (i.e. R&D, employment, and sectoral info), data on EU policies (i.e. ESIF and Horizon Europe) as well as micro-level data (i.e. LFS, SILC, CIS). Research and analytical work will involve collaboration with other European Commission services and other relevant international organisations and research institutions.

 

At the time of applying, the successful candidate should:

  • Have a PhD (doctoral diploma) or a minimum of 5 years professional experience after university studies of at least 3 years attested by a diploma.
  • He/she should have experience in economic and policy analysis, preferably in relation to research and innovation and/ or cohesion policies at national and/or regional levels.
  • Knowledge of the EU regional policy programmes and/or research and innovation and/or cohesion policy programmes is an important plus.
  • A proven record of both empirical research and policy support in the areas of regional economics.
  • Knowledge and experience of policy monitoring and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of statistical/econometric tools (i.e. STATA).
  • A track record of research and publications will be an asset.
  • A very good level of written and spoken English is essential.

Indicative contract’s duration:

36 months initial contract with possible renewals up to maximum 6 years.
