Just coming back from the 59th ERSA Congress of Lyon where we had a very rich-content Programme last week.

I would like to thank once again the Local Organising Committee for the success of this huge event of high-value for the entire regional science community.

Award Winners @ERSA2019

·    Philip McCann, ERSA European Prize in Regional Science 2019, for his outstanding contribution in regional science and his researches in the academic circle.

·    Eduardo Ibarra-Olivo, ERSA Epainos Prize Winner 2019, for his paper, “Outward Foreign Direct Investment and the Skill Composition in Mexican Regions”, presented during an Epainos Session at the Congress.

·    Isabelle Thomas, RSAI Fellow 2019, for her outstanding contribution to Regional Science

·    Roberta Capello, Hirotatada Kohno Award 2018 (RSAI), for her outstanding support to RSAI.

·    Martin Beckmann Prize 2019 Tobias D. Ketterer and Andrés Rodríguez‐Pose, for the paper with title “Institutions vs. ‘first-nature’ geography: What drives economic growth in Europe’s regions?” and Wen Chen, Bart Los, Philip McCann, Raquel Ortega‐Argilés, Mark Thissen and Frank van Oort for the paper with title “The continental divide? The Closing Ceremony concluded with the handover of the ERSA flag to Bolzano, City host of the 60th ERSA Congress to be held from 27-30 August 2020.

The preparations have already started. We wish the Bolzano Local Organising Committee and ERSA Italian Section AISRE a lot of success.

Election of Councillor at RSAI Council

 

The election of one councillor-at-large for the period 2020-2022 will take place electronically by RSAI members during the month of September 2019.

A position of councilor is open in the RSAI council. Members will receive electronic ballots for vote soon. Please seriously consider voting for European candidates for this election in order to strengthen our position at the international level.
